The apogee value reported in the header of a UNIX-format Code500 ephemeris does not match the header of a native (little-endian) Code500 ephemeris. The UNIX-format ephemeris reports 0, and the native ephemeris reports 21545, which is incorrect (and oddly, equal to the default TAIModJulian epoch). See attached script. The apogee is recorded in header bytes 489-496.
Header values that are not explicitly properly set should be set to zero.
